The revelation that vinyl chloride, used to make PVC, caused cancer was one of the biggest shocks in the world of occupational health. This is how BSSRS saw it:

These have been made from transcribing an old fashioned tape recording, recently discovered, that was made during the production of a BBC Open Door programme. BSSRS was given the facilities to produce a 45 minute programme, one third of which was devoted to the vinyl choride affair.
